An all-star cast has been announced for Robert Zemeckis's A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
According to comingsoon.net, Colin Firth, ROBIN WRIGHT PENN, and Gary Oldman are all expected to take roles in the 2009 film, although what parts they will play has not been announced.
It was previously revealed that Jim Carrey would be starring in the film as several characters.
The comic-actor will play Ebenezer Scrooge, the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Future.
BOB HOSKINS is already attached to the project in the role of Fezziwig.
There is speculation that Harry Potter star Oldman will also play multiple characters.
Other Hollywood stars rumoured to be appearing in the film include Tom Hanks, MICHAEL J Fox and CHRISTOPHER LLOYD, although they are yet to be confirmed.
Hanks himself has refuted these rumours in a recnt issue of GQ, despite the fact that he played multiple roles in POLAR EXPRESS.
The classic Christmas tale will be retold in capture/Disney digital 3-D film, similarly to the 2004 hit POLAR EXPRESS which was also direct by Zemeckis.
The film, which is based upon Charles Dickens' classic novel, is expected to be released in November next year.
Robert Zemeckis is the director of current release Beowulf, which also uses motion-capture technology.
