It was a night filled with big name duets at the annual Global Citizen Fest.
Ed Sheeran must have felt like he was dreaming on Saturday night, when he got to join Beyonce onstage at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival for a duet of her hit song ‘Drunk in Love’. Sheeran frequently covers the track but this was the first time he had performed his stripped down acoustic version with Queen Bey herself.
Ed Sheeran joined Beyonce at this year’s Global Citizen Fest.
Beyonce brought out Sheeran mid-way through her set which had already included Destiny’s Child classics and a remix of ‘Crazy in Love’. But the New York crowd went wild for the Sheeran duet, which was a highlight of the already star studded festival.
Two of the most anticipated album releases of 2015 could finally be on the way.
New reports indicate that eagerly awaited albums by Adele and Coldplay are set to be released in the autumn, with both being labelled “Must-Hear Fall Albums” on the new front cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
The latest issue of the rock monthly suggests that both albums will drop before 2015 is out. Adele’s 21, the fourth-biggest selling album in British chart history as well as a multi-platinum chart buster around the world, was released back in 2011. Its follow-up – which will continue the age theme and be titled 25, according to the most recent reports – has been shrouded in secrecy. But Billboard reports that her record label, XL, is gearing up for a November release.
Adele is reportedly going to release her third album '25' in November

UK albums and singles generated approximately $2.75 billion in world sales last year.
One Direction and Ed Sheeran led a record breaking year for British artists in 2014, who had five of the top 10 best-selling albums worldwide. More than one in seven albums sold worldwide last year were by British artists, giving them a record 13.7% share of the global market.
One Direction’s Four was the highest selling British album of 2014.

One irate ticketholder started an online petition shortly after the announcement on Monday night, which has already attracted 10,000 signatures.
Love him or hate him – and it really is one or the other, it seems – Kanye West at Glastonbury story has certainly got people talking about him more than ever before. While some are hailing the decision to make him the Saturday night headliner at the legendary festival, many others were left dismayed and even angry at the booking.
One disappointed ticketholder even went as far as to create an online petition at Change.org, just a few hours after Monday’s (March 16th) announcement. Neil Lonsdale, a lucky ticketholder for the 2015 festival, has attracted over 10,000 signatures for his petition as of Tuesday evening.

Coldplay have announced their seventh studio album - but will it be their last?
Coldplay's Chris Martin has confirmed that the band are recording their seventh studio album A Head Full of Dreams, whilst hinting that it could be the group's final. During an interview with Radio 1's Zane Lowe, Martin compared the album with the final book in the Harry Potter franchise, inferring that, although JK Rowling has never ruled out more books, it remains unlikely given Harry's story came to a natural conclusion.

"We haven't told anyone this. We're making an album called 'A Head Full of Dreams'. We're right in the middle of it and because it's you (Zane Lowe) and Radio 1, this feels like, Ok I'll tell you!"

Real music fans, prepare to rejoice as Pink Floyd become bigger than One Direction. Sort of.
It's frustrating for any musical connoisseur that carefully manipulated pop reigns highest on most music charts, but it looks like psychedelic legends Pink Floyd could beat One Direction on Amazon's most pre-ordered albums list with their final release 'The Endless River'.
The band, whose last album ten years ago entitled 'The Division Bell' became a worldwide number one, managed to easily overtake Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories' as most pre-ordered album of 2014 and now their new record may be held up as the most pre-ordered of all time - a title currently held by One Direction's 'Midnight Memories'.

'Ghost Stories' tour kicks off in September in Las Vegas - will Jen be there?
All the hot gossip over the last few weeks has had it that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is romantically involved with actress Jennifer Lawrence. More fuel has been added to that bonfire with the rumour that Lawrence will be joining the band on their upcoming US tour.
Coldplay’s new tour to promote recent sixth album Ghost Stories will be briefer than previous ones, only stopping at a handful of major cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Lawrence has some free time in her schedule as her two new movies – Joy and X-Men: Apocalypse – are currently in the pre-production stages.

Mariah Carey had to settle for No.2 on the Billboard chart as Coldplay conquered all.
Mariah Carey was beaten to the Billboard 200 top spot this week after her record "Me: I Am Mariah. The Elusive Chanteuse' entered at No.3 with 58,000. It matched the effort of the last non-holiday studio effort, 2009's Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel, which debuted at No.3 with 168,000.
Mariah Carey Had To Settle for No.3
It was Coldplay's Ghost Stories that held onto the top spot for a second consecutive week, selling 83,000 to take overall sales to over 460,000. It makes it the sixth-largest-selling album of 2014, with the Frozen soundtrack way ahead with 2.5 million, according to Billboard.

The Outrage: Seth Rogen has been forced to abandon his goofy bear act this week to stand up against Washington Post critic Ann Hornaday, who wrote a controversial column implying that the "frat-boy" style movies comedians Rogen and Judd Apatow produce could have fuelled Elliot Rodger's horrific mass shooting last week. Rogen and Apatow let Hornaday have it...and it wasn't even slightly funny. Read more.

Nearly two decades into their career, Coldplay have somehow managed to stay relevant.
Coldplay’s sixth studio album “Ghost Stories” landed straight at No. 1 in the Billboard chart on its debut this week. The record sold 383,000 million had sold 383,000 copies in the week ending Friday, May 25, making this the best sales week for any album in 2014 so far. The previous record holder was Eric Church's "The Outsiders", which sold 288,000 in the week ending Feb. 16 (all figures calculated by Nielsen SoundScan, via Billboard).
The album's sales number were boosted by a promo deal with NBC.
In fact, “Ghost Stories” is the biggest seller since Beyonce dropped her surprise album last December, selling 617,000 in the week ending Dec. 15 (as an iTunes-exclusive). Barring Bey's smash hit, "Ghost Stories" also had the biggest digital debut since One Direction's "Midnight Memories" last year. Chris Martin and co. sold 245,000 in digital copies, or 64% of the album's total.

Chris’s ‘Ghost Stories’ of Gwyneth lead to Coldplay topping the UK album chart.
Coldplay on stage at Radio One's Big Weekend
Ghost Stories landing on means Coldplay are not only enjoying their sixth consecutive number one album, but now also have the fasted selling album of the year so far. Since last Monday, Ghost Stories has sold an impressive 168,000 copies, beating previous best seller Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love which sold 109,000 in its first week in April. They’ve also managed to knock Michael Jackson’s Xscape down to the number two spot just one week after its release.
Coldplay's new album charts Chris Martin's split from wife Gwyneth Paltrow. Does it have the heartbreak factor to join our five best breakup albums?
Coldplay’s new album Ghost Stories has been released, to quite a mixed bag of reviews. When just three weeks after the album’s track listing had been announced Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow announced their “conscious uncoupling” we all had a pretty good idea what the tone of the album would be like. With tracks like “Another’s Arms,” “Always in my Head” and “Magic,” it became pretty self-explanatory that "Ghost Stories" was going to be a breakup album.
"Ghost Stories" focuses on the marriage breakup between Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow
Perhaps he was inspired to call the album “Ghost Stories” as some of these breakup albums have been the some of the most hauntingly heartbreaking albums ever released.

Coldplay are obviously a band who need no introduction, with numerous hit singles since 2000's 'Yellow' and five successful albums of big, but sensible pop music that has gained them millions of fans around the world. So we can expect 'Ghost Stories' to be an album full of melody and huge choruses, right? Well, apparently not.
There's no avoiding the subject, but one can assume that this is a break-up album brought on by Martin's recent split with actress Gwyneth Paltrow. This could be a reason why the album leaves behind the safer Coldplay of old and finds the band exploring darker territory. Fans shouldn't be too shocked to hear the inclusion of electronic beats and beeps, given 2011's 'Mylo Xyloto''s use of colourful synths, but one will be surprised how cold the electronics are this time around.
From the moment 'Always In My Head' starts, you can tell that this is not the Coldplay we are familiar with, with choir samples that skip and the slightly jilted drums. There's a sense that Coldplay have taken influence from a few newer artists about at the moment, such as SBTRKT and Jamie XX, whilst 'Magic' has an electronic drum beat and guitar which makes it sound like it's straight from Warpaint's playbook. Vocalist Chris Martin demonstrates the power of his pipes with R&B style vocals, something else that will be new to Coldplay fans.

Has Chris Martin's personal life influenced his band's new record a little too much?
The release of Coldplay's sixth studio album, Ghost Stories, is imminent. We already know that the British indie rockers have embarked on a sleeker, more electronic sound for their new record thanks to singles 'Midnight' and 'Magic' but must turn to early critics to find out the verdict on the entire nine song collection.
The Release Of Coldplay's 'Ghost Stories' Is Just Around The Corner.
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on whether you take the view that all publicity is good publicity), the new album will land at a time that is a little too close to the very public "conscious uncoupling" of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and his wife, Gwyneth Paltrow.
