Have ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Fans Finally Got Their Happy Ending, As Alternative Cut Leaks Online

Josh Radnor Neil Patrick Harris Cobie Smulders

It’s no secret that fans of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ weren't exactly overjoyed at how the series ended. After following the love life of Ted Moseby for nine years viewers, couldn’t help but feel a little cheated when it was revealed that the ‘mother’ had already died and Ted was about to end up with Robin again after all. But now a video claiming to be the 'alternative ending' to the series has leaked online, ahead of the release of 'How I Met Your Mother: The Whole Story, Seasons 1-9' DVD box set.

How I Met Your Mother'How I Met Your Mother' ended earlier this year after nine seasons

Now, here’s another spoiler alert, in this ending Tracy (the mother) doesn't die from a terminal illness, instead she remains happily married to Ted, while Robin and Barney also stay together. This 'alternative'  ending features no unseen footage, instead it just wraps things up in a much happier manner with narration provided by Bob Saget.

They Came Together Review

Good

How do you spoof a genre that's already a joke? Filmmakers David Wain and Michael Showalter clearly think the answer is to go for broke with a nonstop barrage of silliness, because some of the jokes are bound to stick. They did the same thing for teen summer-camp comedies more than a decade ago with Wet Hot American Summer, which stars many of the same actors. And while this movie is just as hilarious, it never quite transcends its own jokiness. Because as a rom-com it's never very engaging.

The story plays out as Joel and Molly (Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler) meet up with their friends (Bill Hader and Ellie Kemper) and regale them with the story of their romance. Everything about their courtship is just like in the movies, from the meet-cute to the fact that New York is another character in their story. Molly runs an adorable candy shop, while Joel is a "not too handsome or too Jewish" corporate raider sent to shut her down, but they hit it off, engage in a wildly energetic first sexual encounter, then go through the usual montage sequences on their way to the usual rough patches ("Your dreams don't pay the rent!"), breakups and mad-dash reunions.

Since it's told in flashbacks, the film feels almost like a collection of comedy sketches, most of which are ridiculously funny. The jokes are clever and pointed, with riotous side characters including sassy best friends, inappropriate relatives, idiotic coworkers and clingy ex-lovers. So every scene is a zany mixture of goofy slapstick, surreal visual gags and hysterically overstated emotion. Thankfully, the cast is more than adept at wringing every moment for laughter. Rudd and Poehler have impeccable timing, and they're supported by a terrific cast of seasoned comical actors, including amusing cameos from the likes of Adam Scott, Michael Shannon and Norah Jones.

Marvel's Comic-Con Panel Was Packed With "Ultron" Stars And "Guardians" Footage

Robert Downey Jr Chris Hemsworth Jeremy Renner Cobie Smulders Samuel L Jackson Aaron Johnson Elizabeth Olsen James Spader Josh Brolin

No one is surprised that Marvel had big things prepared for their Comic-Con panel, after all it’s the biggest industry event of the year. Those, who missed out on a seat in Hall H, however, won’t have to wait long for the recaps and news leaks to start pouring in, not including (unfortunately) the long awaited announcement of the actor cast to play Dr. Strange in the upcoming film, HitFix reports.

Robert Downey Jr.
RDJ won't be the (only) star of the show this time.

The panel, which featured the longest superhero lineup of any event ever (we’re guessing here) included Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Quicksilver), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), James Spader, who will be introduced as Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Josh Brolin, who was announced as the voice of Thanos. And breathe.

Well, Winter Soldier has three of these babies, which took some serious effort to create.

FXguide's Mike Seymour spoke to the visual effects company to find out what new details were added to the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircrafts, and how the effects team created a digital modeling environment for the epic helicarrier crash scene seen in the new Marvel blockbuster. As in most CGI-heavy movies, the special effects are best when you barely notice them, which involves hundreds of effects geniuses working tirelessly behind the scenes to make that explosion look as real as possible.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Review

Very Good

This is the Marvel movie that divides the fans from the casual filmgoers, as the movies become more like a TV series in which the world is saved from disaster every week. While it's shot and acted to an unusually high standard, the script treats the characters like pawns to throw at each other rather than real human beings. So while it's hugely entertaining, there isn't a hint of actual tension or suspense.

Now settling into life in the 21st century, super-powered soldier Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and his cohort Natasha (Scarlett Johansson) are horrified when the mysterious, seemingly indestructible Winter Soldier launches an attack on Shield Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) on the streets of Washington DC. Suspected of being on the wrong side, Steve and Natasha set out to find out what's up, drafting in angry veteran Sam (Anthony Mackie) and his whizzy flying-wings accessory. Meanwhile, Shield boss Pierce (Robert Redford) is carrying on with launching a wildly heavy-handed security system for America.

Marvel show-runner Kevin Feige works hard to make these movies fit loosely into the overarching mythology while standing on their own. But this is the ninth time these superheroes have had to save the world since 2008's Iron Man, and it's getting a bit tired. This chapter introduces a perviously unseen darkness in the evil agency Hydra, but the real innovation here is the use of gritty Bourne-style direction for the lucid action sequences.

Captain America: The Winter Solider Trailer

Steve Rogers has awoken after a deep sleep lasting 70 years following his fight with Nazi adversary the Red Skull during World War II. Unable to trust most of the people around him, he finds comfort in his S.H.I.E.L.D. cohorts, namely Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow and Sam Wilson AKA Falcon. The Lego Movie Review

Excellent

Inventive visuals and a seriously deranged script make this animated adventure far more enjoyable than we expect, especially as it brings out the childish creativity in everyone watching. Filmmakers Lord and Miller are experts at finding offbeat comedy in the most surprising places (see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs or 21 Jump Street). And this movie is often jaw-droppingly entertaining.

It's set in a Lego city where construction worker Emmet (voiced by Pratt) follows instructions to the letter. Like everyone else, he has been lulled into complacency by President Business (Ferrell), whose inanely catchy pop songs (the insanely hummable Everything Is Awesome!) and mindless TV shows (Where Are My Pants?) keep people from thinking creatively. He's also concocting an insidious plan involving a secret weapon called the Kragle. Then Emmet inadvertently discovers the Piece of Resistance and is declared "The Special" by the underground rebel alliance led by Wyldstyle (Banks) and Vitruvius (Freeman). With help from Batman (Arnett), a patched-up pirate (Offerman) and a groovy kitty (Brie), they go off-grid to save their civilisation, pursued by the president's vicious enforcer (Neeson).

As the story spirals from the city to the Wild West and Cloud Cuckoo Land, it develops an insane, free-wheeling tone that can't help but spark our imaginations. And the sassy 3D animation adds to this by evoking surreal stop-motion classics like Gumby or The Magic Roundabout while referencing other movies and playing merrily with iconic characters. Hill, Smulders and Tatum turn up as a trio of frustrated superheroes, while Daniels and Williams offer a bit of Star Wars silliness. All of the vocal cast members dive into their characters with energy, bringing out the warped humour and pulling us into the action and even some emotional moments.

"How I Met Your Mother" Heading For The Big Finish With Last Scene Filmed Years Ago

Josh Radnor Cobie Smulders Jason Segel Neil Patrick Harris

With the first of nine final How I Met Your Mother episodes having aired last night, the countdown to the end has begun. For the HIMYM team, however, the countdown has been running for a few years – ever since they filmed the last scene of the last episode sometime during season two, News.com.au reports.

How I Met Your Mother Cast
The actors have been at this for nine years.

The premise of the entire series is that sometime in the future, Josh Radnor’s character, Ted, is telling his kids the longwinded story of how he met their mother. In the early years of the show, the kids, played by David Henrie and Lyndsy Fonseca, were often seen sitting on a couch, listening to the story and looking utterly bored.

Delivery Man Review

Very Good

In remaking his 2011 French Canadian surprise hit Starbuck, filmmaker Ken Scott doesn't really try to do anything new. Aside from transplanting the story to New York and casting Hollywood star Vince Vaughn, it's exactly the same movie: likeable enough, even without attempting to do anything new or solve the problems of the original film.

Vaughn plays David, a slacker trying to pay off his debts and support his newly pregnant girlfriend (Smulders) by delivering meat for his butcher dad (Blumenfeld). Then David learns that, after donating sperm 20 years earlier, he has 533 biological children. When 142 file a class-action suit to learn the identity of the donor "Starbuck", David hires his inexperienced lawyer pal Brett (Pratt) to represent him in court. In the mean time, he begins to quietly follow his "kids" around like a sort of guardian angel. Then the press gets hold of the story, and he worries that his identity will be revealed.

Without trying too hard, Vaughn brings considerable charm to this character, so we like him even though David has no direction in his life. Vaughn is great at balancing the comical and dramatic elements of the story, notably in his hilarious scenes with Pratt and the more emotional interaction with three of the kids (Reynor, Robertson and Chanler-Berat). There's also a significant, moving sequence at the end between Vaughn and Blumenfeld.

Delivery Man Trailer

David Wozniak may be a lazy, middle-aged slob now, but he certainly did enough in his younger years to get himself into a situation that no man could ever dream of happening to them. After donating a vial of sperm to a sperm bank some 20-plus years ago, he is visited by an official from the clinic who informs him that he has in fact managed to father a colossal 533 children. Unfortunately, a good percentage of those 'kids' are now taking legal action in a bid to discover the identity of their biological father, nicknamed Starbuck. His lawyer has managed to pick up an envelope of all their profiles, giving David a strict instruction not to open it. Curiosity overcomes him when he opens it and he suddenly finds himself overwhelmed with a desire to take care of every one of his offspring and help them in any way he can. However, with a sceptical girlfriend, an unsupportive best friend and a lawyer who thinks he should stay away, he has got so many tough decisions to make.

This hilarious and heartwarming movie is based on the recent French film 'Starbuck'. Both were directed and written by Ken Scott ('Sticky Fingers', 'The Rocket: The Legend of Rocket Richard') and it tells a tale of responsibility and the true meaning of parenthood. 'Delivery Man' will be released in the UK on January 10th 2014.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Trailer

Following events during World War II and his confrontation with Nazi adversary the Red Skull, Steve Rogers awoke 70 years later to find that the world had changed almost beyond recognition. He is now reluctantly a part of superhero law enforcers S.H.I.E.L.D., led by Nick Fury who more than once makes Steve question the ethics of the group and epitomises the blurred line between good guys and bad guys. There are people he can trust though, namely Natasha Romanoff AKA Black Widow; a fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. spy who embarks alongside him on a mission to tackle the latest global threat. However, when a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. is attacked, they find themselves in mysterious circumstances and start to wonder if someone's keeping something from them. As Rogers fights off a myriad of assassins, the real threat starts to surface in the form of the Winter Soldier.

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is the sequel to 2011's 'Captain America: The First Avenger'. Based on the Marvel comics by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, it has been directed by Primetime Emmy-winning brothers Anthony Russo, Joe Russo ('You, Me and Dupree', 'Community') with a screenplay by collaborative writing duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely ('Thor: The Dark World', 'The Chronicles of Narnia', 'Pain & Gain'). It is set to hit the UK on March 28th 2014.

Wedding Approaches, Chaos Ensues - "How I Met Your Mother" Recap, Episode 3 "Last Time In New York"

Neil Patrick Harris Cobie Smulders Alyson Hannigan Josh Radnor Jason Segel

The final season of How I Met Your Mother is going on full speed ahead (tear) and last week’s episode saw the chaos surrounding Barney and Robin’s wedding continue to unfold. Do we even need to explain that this recap will contain ALL OF THE SPOILERS? No? Ok. The couple try to find a place where they can be alone before the wedding and before “those old b***ards latch onto us like leeches.” As you can guess, by “those b***ards” they mean their relatives.

Neil Patrick Harris, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
The wedding stress is finally catching up with Barney and Robin.

Meanwhile, Marshall continues his heroic quest to Farhampton. He’s making headway, but unfortunately, we’re not quite at the end of the season, so that probably means he’ll have to go through a few more challenges before making it. This week it was Wisconsin – for you non-football fans, that’s the home of the Green Bay Packers – sworn rivals of Marshall’s dearest Vikings. Without spoiling too much, things get intense.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Gets Rave Reactions At Comic-Con

Joss Whedon Clark Gregg Cobie Smulders

Anticipation for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has been building up since the very first announcement for the show was released and one of the big milestones along the way was this Saturday’s panel held in Ballroom 20 at Comic-Con, which was set to feature exclusive preview clips from the upcoming series. When it was announced, earlier this week, that Avengers actress Cobie Smulders would be making a substantial appearance in the pilot, excitement sky-rocketed. Little did the eager Avengers/Marvel/Joss Whedon fans know however, that the preview went above and beyond its billing, treating attendees to a preview screening of the first episode in its entirety.

While we'll have to wait awhile for the full episode, you can catch the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. trailer below.

At the Mecca of Geekdom - the San Diego Comic-Con International - the annual Comic-Con kick started in front of an eager audience this Thursday (July 18), with the our-day event already revealing some rather juicy pieces of information about what future films and TV shows have in store. Here's what we know so far, following the first two days of geeky gossip at the annual gathering.

Cobie Smulders
Smulders appeared in the 'Agents' pilot

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was one of the biggest talking points of the firsts two days, as ABC's Avenger's spin-off was discussed by a panel including Avengers director Joss Whedon and Agents... star Clark Gregg. Gregg discussed the miraculous recovery of his Avengers character Agent Phil Coulson, who was 'killed' by Loki in the first Avengers film only to return in time for his own starring series. Revelers got more than just a frank talk, as they were treated to a world premiere of the pilot episode for Agents..., which featured fellow Avengers star Cobie Smulders and was directed by Whedon. For those of you who weren't at Comic-Con, the series premieres on September 24.

Vince Vaughn Looks Set To Bring Laughs In The Delivery Man Trailer [Video]

Vince Vaughn Cobie Smulders Chris Pratt

The Delivery Man is the new comedy from writer/director Ken Scott (Starbuck) and what looks to be one of the outsider bets for the year's best comedy blockbuster. With Vince Vaughn as the titular deliverer, the film also has nods to TV comedy faithfuls Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother) and Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) and looks as though it could deliver for cinema-goers after a good laugh.

Vaughn stars as a loveable slacker who finds out that he has fathered over 500 children thanks to an anonymous donation he made to a sperm bank two decades ago. When the families discover only one sperm donor was used for so many people a lawsuit is brought against the sperm-bank demanding that they reveal the father of their children, leaving Vaughn's character in a delicate situation where he must decide to either come forward of keep his head down, a decision not helped by the less-than-helpful tips from his best friend (Pratt).

The film is Vaughn's third comedy of the year, with the actor teaming up with long-time collaborator and friend Owen Wilson for The Internship this summer, whilst he will also be reprising his role as Wes Mantooth in the long-awaited Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues later this year. With Smulders' career on the rise thanks largely to the Avengers movie, Pratt is also experiencing a well-deserved boost in movie exposure, appearing in Spike Jonze's latest project, Her, The Lego Movie and the upcoming Marvel spectacle Guardians of the Galaxy in the coming months.
