CNN President Jeff Zucker has described as a bunch of bunk criticism that his network undercovered the military coup in Egypt while overcovering the trial of George Zimmerman. In an interview with the Associated Press on Friday, Zucker said, I feel increasingly comfortable and confident that we got it in the right balance. ... We cover both what's important and what's interesting, and it's the mix of things that makes CNN great. However, as reported by Politico.com, a study by TVEyes.com, which monitors broadcast and cable-TV content, shows that from July 3, the date of the coup, until July 12 (prior to the verdict in the Zimmerman case), the word Zimmerman was mentioned on CNN 1,079 times, while the word Egypt was mentioned 349 times.
