CNN is teaming up with YouTube.com to allow viewers at home to question candidates at the upcoming Democratic presidential candidate debate on July 23 and the Republican debate on September 17. In a conference call with reporters on Thursday, CNN executive David Bohrman said that CNN had come up with "the crazy idea internally" and then had taken it to YouTube. Bohrman said that he expects thousands of questions will be submitted. He did not explain why the questions could not have been submitted directly to the CNN website without using YouTube as an intermediary. He indicated that the plan is for the viewers' submissions to be presented as leading questions, with moderator Anderson Cooper then providing follow-ups.
