British actor Clive Owen has landed his own potential action franchise, after months of speculation over whether he'll be the new James Bond.

While Owen has recently been replaced as a favourite to take over from Pierce Brosnan by James Purefoy, bosses at NEW LINE are in final negotiations with the actor to sign him up for SHOOT-EM-UP.

In the extremely violent movie, which will start production in January (06), Owen will play a man blocking the efforts of criminals to kill a newborn baby.

Fans will be treated to such onscreen action as a shootout during a sex scene and a gun battle in the midst of a freefall.

Bosses hope the film will eventually lead to an action franchise.
