Clint Eastwood was so determined to film realistic battle scenes in new war movie FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS he didn't tell the cast when and where bombs would detonate. Actor Ryan Phillippe admits Eastwood's unique technique kept everyone alert. Phillippe says, "He surprised us with the odd bomb. "It began to feel like the real thing. When one of those goes off, you are lost in a cloud of sand for about 10 seconds and that makes it feel pretty real."
