Clint Eastwood was honoured with the Cinema For Peace Award in Berlin, Germany, last night (12FEB07). The American director received the film award for his double project FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS and LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA, which narrate the battles between America and Japan during World War II from the perspectives of both parties involved. German director Wim Wenders praised Eastwood as the "voice of humanity" at the presentation. Actor Forest Whitaker also received a Cinema For Peace Award at the charity gala; he was honoured for his portrayal of African dictator Idi Amin in THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND.
