Widely thought of as a British 'National Treasure', Sir Clement Freud rose to fame as one of the first celebrity chefs and later went on to become an MP. He was also a frequent guest on the Radio 4 comedy show 'Just a Minute'. But know he will forever be known as the man who abused at least two innocent young girls who have now come forward to talk about their traumatizing experiences on 'Exposure: Abused & Betrayed - A Life Sentence'.

Far from denying the suggestions, 89-year-old Lady Jill Freud has surprisingly apologised on for the allegations on behalf of her dead husband, following a preview of the program; an astoundingly honest thing to do considering that she was in the house during many of the assaults. Sylvia Woolsey alleged that at just 11-years-old, she was taken into Clement's marital bed with Jill, who Woolsey said was even there in the room when he touched her inappropriately once, though Woolsey is sure Jill knew nothing of the abuse.

'This is a very sad day for me. I was married to Clement for 58 years and loved him dearly', Jill said in a statement. 'I am shocked, deeply saddened and profoundly sorry for what has happened to these women. I sincerely hope they will now have some peace.'

The documentary tells how Woolsey was taken on trips to the beach and bought presents by the then 24-year-old man who she viewed as a father figure, and who her mother was also fond of. However, this was just the beginning of a string of assaults that she would go on to endure in Clement's company. Woolsey said she felt 'unclean and soiled' her experiences, but didn't realise at the time that she was a victim of sexual abuse. She was even sent to live with him and Jill when her mother's marriage ended, and continued to be abused in his own marital bed.

Another woman, who remains anonymous, claims that Clement groomed her when she was also just 11-years-old and first abused her when she turned 14. She adds that she also suffered a violent rape at the hands of Clement when she was 18 in her own parents' bedroom.

'Exposure: Abused & Betrayed - A Life Sentence' will air on ITV at 11:05pm.
