Claire Danes has to find some new room on her crowded mantelpiece after Sunday's Emmy Awards where she pulled off the remarkable achievement of winning two consecutive Emmy awards for the evening's most coveted female gong: the best actress in a drama series.

The Homeland actress won the same award at last year's TV industry awards ceremony but this year she'll have to make sure she doesn't leave the shiny, spiky trophy in reach of little hands. Since last year's Emmys, Danes and her husband, actor Hugh Dancy, have become parents to a little boy. Now 9 months-old, Cyrus' curious little fingers might guide him towards any shiny object.
Joking about safety precautions that will be needed for her new award, Danes said "I'm hoping he's not going to impale himself on the thing." Though she won one of the evening's biggest prizes, she hinted that she and Hugh might not have had partying at the top of their list for afterparty activities. "We have a tiny person now," the mum-of-one explained. "He's still on East Coast time, so our curfew has to be earlier than it ever has been before."
Where Will I Find Space For This One..?
Although the weekend's award ceremony revealed a number of surprise wins, it was not hard to predict that Danes would once again walk home with the best actress gong. Although she did come up against strong competition from Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss, Scandal's Kerry Washington, and House of Cards' Robin Wright, Danes' performance as Homeland's bipolar CIA officer Carrie Mathison has earned her immense praise from critics, fans and mental health charities.
Claire's glamorous evening outfit matched her dazzling success with an ivory lace backless Armani Gown and glittering diamond jewellery. Her usually shoulder-length hair had been styled into a faux-bob which gave a flavour of 1920s Hollywood glamour.

Danes wasn't the only member of the Homeland cast to debut shorter hair: Damian Lewis, AKA Nicholas Brody, arrived on the red carpet with a skinhead 'do which Homeland fans will recognise echoes the upcoming season 3 trailer clip.
Homeland season 3 will premiere in the USA on Showtime on the 29th September and in the UK not long after on Channel 4.
