Cindy Crawford (born Cynthia Ann Crawford, 20.02.1966)
Cindy Crawford is an American supermodel.
Childhood: Cindy Crawford was born in DeKalb, Illinois. Her parents are Jennifer Sue Crawford-Moluf and John Dan Crawford. When she was 10, her brother died of leukaemia. She was scouted by a photographer aged 16 and subsequently entered the Elite Model Management's Look of the Year contest. After becoming a runner-up, the agency in Chicago agreed to represent her. She graduated as valedictorian from DeKalb High School and her academic achievements were enough to earn her a scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University. She dropped out to pursue her modelling career and later signed with the Elite New York modelling agency.
Modelling career: Cindy Crawford was a major star in the 80s and 90s and appeared on the cover of Vogue, W, People, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Cosmopolitan and Allure. She is 5 feet 9 inches and is known for her trademark mole on her upper lip. She has also been known for resembling 70s and 80s model Gia Carangi. She has been in fashion campaigns for Gianni Versace, Escada, Revlon, Ink, Omega, Maybelline and Clairol. She has appeared in several music videos including for George Michael's 'Freedom '90', Jon Bon Jovi's 'Please Come Home For Christmas' and Duran Duran's 'Girl Panic'. In 1991, she donned her iconic red Versace dress at that year's Academy Awards. In 1992, she released her first exercise video 'Cindy Crawford: Shape Your Body' which was followed up by two more videos. Between 1989 and 1995 she hosted MTV's 'House of Style'. In 1995, she was the female lead in 'Fair Game' which was badly received both critically and commercially. In 2001, she appeared in the equally as unsuccessful 'The Simian Line'. In 1988, she made her Playboy debut and appeared in the magazine again later in the year. She quit modeling in 2000 but returned to it in 2011. During her modelling hiatus, she worked on various things including a beauty line 'Meaningful Beauty for Guthy-Renker' and a furniture line 'Cindy Crawford Home Collection'.
Personal life: Cindy Crawford married Richard Gere in 1991 but divorced him in 1995. She married Rande Gerber in 1998 and had two children; Presley Walker and Kaia Jordan. She has done much charity work for cancer organisations and is an honorary board member of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
Cindy Crawford's ex-husband Richard Gere is a stranger to her these days.
The supermodel was married to the Hollywood star between 1991 and 1995, and she's speculated on why their relationship went wrong. She was 26 when she tied the knot and Richard was 42, with the star admitting the age gap did play into their issues.
"We're friendly, but I think it's almost like he's gone back to being, like, 'Richard Gere' again, like a stranger because we don't really see each other that much," she told Marc Maron on his WTF podcast. "I think part of the problem in our relationship was that we were a lot of other things but I don't know if we were ever friends - like peers, because I was young, and he was Richard Gere. And then, as I started kind of growing up and growing into myself - it's hard to change the nature of a relationship once you're already in it."
Hindsight is what's led Cindy to understand the problems in her former marriage, as at the time of tying the knot she saw no reason why things wouldn't work out.

The pair re-enacted Crawford's famous 1992 Pepsi advert on 'The Late Late Show' post-Super Bowl special.
The 49 year old, who earlier in February suggested that she would imminently be retiring from modelling, was a guest on the British host’s ‘Late Late Show’, which aired just a couple of hours after the conclusion of Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night (February 7th). Crawford and Corden had teased the parody last week, and it finally aired on the special edition of the Brit’s show.
The 37 year old British host, now more than six months into his tenure as ‘Late Late Show’ host, hilariously managed to squeeze into the same tight white vest and denim shorts as Crawford. In the video, he gallantly helps Ms. Crawford retrieve the can of Pepsi stuck in a vending machine.
Cindy Crawford recreated her iconic 1992 Pepsi Super Bowl ad for a TV skit after this year's (16) big game on Sunday night (07Feb16).
The 49-year-old supermodel teamed up with America's The Late Late Show host James Corden to revamp the commercial, in which she pulled up at a remote gas station on a hot summer day and picked up a Pepsi from a vending machine. When the Pepsi can became stuck, Corden, wearing a white vest and denim shorts, stepped up to help his guest.

Posing isn't her only talent...
There's been reports recently that Cindy Crawford is planning to retire from the modelling industry as she approaches her fiftieth birthday. There was much surprise at the news, given that she is one of the world's most iconic beauties, and while she soon clarified that it's not actually set in stone, it's important to remember that there's a lot more to this woman than just posing.

Cindy Crawford Has Denied Reports Suggesting She's Planning A Model Retirement.
She hinted at life away from the catwalks and photoshoots during a recent interview with United Airlines magazine Hemispheres, stating that she would quit when she turns 50 later this month (20Feb16).
"I'm sure I'll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore - and that's OK," Crawford told the publication. "I've done it. I've worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can't keep reinventing myself. I shouldn't have to keep proving myself. I don't want to."
But on Monday (01Feb16), she laughed off the article, insisting her retirement plans have become a "joke" in her family.

Cindy Crawford Has Hinted She's Ready To Retire From Modelling After She Turns 50.
The fashion star hit the scene in the 1980s and was among the famous breed of '90s supermodels, but as she approaches her 50th birthday in February (16), the brunette beauty admits she's ready to pull back from her career since she feels like she's accomplished as much as she can over the years.
"I feel like I'm allowing that to have been great, and I'm celebrating it. And I'm sure I'll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore. And that's OK," Crawford tells United Airlines' Rhapsody magazine. "I've done it. I've worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can't keep reinventing myself. I shouldn't have to keep proving myself. I don't want to."
However, Cindy has passed on her modelling genes on to 14-year-old daughter Kaia, an aspiring model herself who has already found a strong fan base of her own.
