Actress Cicely Tyson is planning a return to Broadway 30 years after her last New York stage role.
The Help star will lead a new production of Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful, which will open for previews in March (13) at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre.
She tells BroadwayWorld.com, "For years I have been searching for the perfect project to bring me back to my true home - the stage. In many ways Broadway is my Bountiful and I'm eager and honoured to return."
The play revolves around elderly Carrie Watts' dreams of returning to her small Texas hometown one last time against the wishes of her son.
Tyson last appeared onstage in the Broadway revival of The Corn is Green in 1983.
He other Broadway credits include Trumpets of the Lord, A Hand Is On The Gate and Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright.
