As September's fashion month draws to a close and it has become clear that numerous fashion designers still won't drop real animal fur from their collections, anti-animal cruelty charity PETA have reinvigorated their fur campaign to include a new face.

2008 X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke is the new celebrity to be featured in the PETA campaign against the use of animal fur to make clothing. Shot in a flattering black and white, the photo displays PETA's slogan "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" and explains the barbaric practices involved in skinning a creature.

Christy Turlington, Bethenny Frankel, Olivia Munn, Charlotte Ross, Gemma Collins, Elisabetta Canalis and Wendy Williams are just a handful of the celebrities who have all starred in the high-profile campaign to eliminate real fur from fashion and after Burke there are sure to be many more.

The star tweeted her excitement to be part of PETA's campaign, writing "So proud to reveal my PETA advert. It was a nerve wracking but brilliant experience 4 something I really believe in."

Alexandra has explained her support for the charity as well as her nerves during her big shoot. "I was nervous about posing nude as I've never done it before. It was uncomfortable initially, but the photographer made me feel relaxed and at ease," she said, adding "Ultimately I love my body, so it was great to do something for such a worthwhile cause."

"When I found out what happens to animals on fur farms my heart just sank. I have animals and the thought of someone hurting them so they can be turned into a coat makes me sick," she said. "Anyone thinking about buying or wearing fur should watch PETA's videos of animals suffering on fur farms - after seeing them, I can't imagine anyone would want to be caught dead in fur."

Alexandra Burke's new EP, #NewRules, featuring JLS' Aston Merrygold and Wretch 32 is out on release now.
