The star of HBO comedy ‘Girls’ will play the boy who never grows up opposite Christopher Walken as Captain Hook, who was confirmed in his role a couple of weeks ago. Williams reacted to the news in a statement saying “I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true.”

“We couldn’t be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan,” said head of NBC Robert Greenblatt. “She’s a lovely rising star on the award-winning show 'Girls', where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent, and we think she will bring the perfect blend of boyish vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken’s powerful Captain Hook.”

Having had incredible success with last December’s live telecast of ‘The Sound of Music Live’, which attracted 18.6 million viewers and starred Carrie Underwood, NBC have commissioned a similar programme this year too. ‘Peter Pan Live’ is to be based on the original 1954 Broadway musical and will feature songs such as ‘I’m Flying’ and ‘I Won’t Grow Up’.

All of the other roles have yet to be cast, but on the basis of the two confirmed actors we can be pretty sure that the TV special will be a star-studded affair.
