Veteran acting legend Christopher Lee infuriated organisers of Britain's OLDIE OF THE YEAR AWARDS last week (ends12MAR04) - by failing to turn up.
The LORD OF THE RINGS star, 81, was due to attend the luncheon event, designed to honour geriatric achievements, to collect an award honouring him for his contribution to the film industry.
But the host, British broadcaster Terry Wogan, told the assembled guests that one award had been revoked by the organisation after the recipient failed to show. Insiders say Lee's excuse that he was bedridden with a virus didn't go down well with the committee.
One source whispers, "Only death is taken as a valid excuse."15/03/2004 13:20
