DOCTOR WHO star Christopher Eccleston was too tired and over-worked to resume the role of the famous Time Lord for a second series of the hit BBC drama.
The respected actor, who has been replaced by David Tennant, left the show citing fears the part would make it too easy for him to be typecast in future acting projects.
However, months later the 28 DAYS LATER star admits he was exhausted by the heavy BBC work schedule.
Actor Alan Davies, a friend of the 41-year-old, says, "He was worked into the ground.
"He left and the BBC put it around he didn't want to be typecast. In truth he was exhausted."
