Christina Milian is going to stay single for a "long time".

The 29-year-old singer wants to live without a man for the foreseeable future after she reached an out-of-court settlement in her divorce from rapper The-Dream, real name Terius Nash.

The pop star - who has an eight-month-old daughter, Violet Madison Nash, with the hip-hop musician - told People: "I'm staying single for a long time. There is no man in my life and I'm staying single. No dating, no nothing. I love being single."

One of the reasons for Christina wanting to stay single is she wants to focus her energies on her daughter.

The 'Am to PM' singer says Violet has given her life a purpose and "meaning" that wasn't there before.

She added: "I jump from relationship to relationship usually and this is the first time I'm comfortable with myself. I will never bring anyone into my daughter's life that I don't have a real connection with. I'm going to protect her. I don't just bring anyone into my life or her life.

"I feel life has a meaning. Everything I do is for her now. I dedicate my life to her. I spend every moment just thinking about whatever I pursue is going to be a part of her future."

It was revealed earlier this week that Christina and The-Dream - who married in Las Vegas in September 2009 - had reached a settlement in their divorce case without having to go to court to thrash out the details.

Christina's attorney Randy Kessler said: "Ms. Milian strongly believes that peaceful resolution is better for their child and she is very pleased with the settlement and that it was accomplished out of court."
