Fist Fight Trailer

It's safe to say that most kids experience some kind of big fight in the playground after school during their high school years, whether they're involved or just bystanders... but usually the people throwing punches aren't the teachers. When Strickland threatens to beat up Campbell after school following a disagreement, Campbell doesn't take it seriously until it becomes clear that the whole school knows what's going down. Problem is, Campbell doesn't know the first thing about fighting and Strickland is totally ruthless. Campbell has few options, but whatever he chooses to do he's probably dead anyway.

Bad Santa 2 Review

Weak

The 2003 comedy Bad Santa is a holiday classic that skilfully mixes gross-out humour with resolutely unsentimental emotion. So it's very disappointing that this 13-years-later sequel reassembles the cast then merely coasts on the vulgarity, never bothering to develop the characters or plot. It's just as rude, and it provides some solid laughs along the way, but the story never engages the audience, which leaves the movie feeling naughty but never nice.

Over these years, Willie (Billy Bob Thornton) has continued his slacker lifestyle into his early 60s. He still lives in Phoenix, and has continued to try to ignore the attentions of the sweetly naive Thurman (Brett Kelly), who has just turned 21. Then Willie's treacherous ex-cohort Marcus (Tony Cox) gets out of prison and approaches him with a big heist. Against his better judgement, Willie accompanies him to Chicago, where two nasty surprises await: the plan is to steal millions from a children's charity, and Willie's estranged mother Sunny (Kathy Bates) is organising the robbery. Annoyed, Willie instantly falls for the sexy Diane (Christina Hendricks), who is married to the charity's shifty boss (Ryan Hansen). Meanwhile, Marcus tries to seduce a security guard (Jenny Zigrino). And Thurman turns up unannounced.

It's depressing that, after years of talk about a sequel, this haphazard plot is the best the writers could come up with. Every element of the narrative is deeply contrived to merely string together a series of filthy jokes, rude insults, noisy sex and criminal slapstick. All of this would have been welcome if the comedy sprang from the messy relationships or personalities. But everything is so static and pointless that there's nothing to hold the audience's attention, aside from a number of witty gags that pop up out of nowhere. So at least there are a few solid laughs.

Bad Santa 2 Trailer

Since we last met Willie T. Stokes, his life has had plenty of ups and downs; but mainly downs. He's still in touch with his curly haired friend, Thurman but he's the only person he really has in his life. Thurman is now fully grown and at the age of 21, he's now old enough to drink and he works at a sub sandwich shop.

Thurman is just as naive as the last time we saw him but he has just as much faith in his buddy Willie as he ever has done. Willie can't help but still feel protective over the boy he helped save from bullies all those years prior.

As for Willie's old partner Marcus, as far as Willie's concerned hopefully he's still rotting in jail after attempting to kill Willie. When Marcus gets in contact with our cranky aging ex-Santa, he's surprised to hear from him and even more surprised to learn of a new con Marcus tells him about which could be worth millions.

As the Cannes Film Festival winds down this weekend, a handful of films are emerging as frontrunners for the prestigious awards ceremony. Higher-profile contenders include David Cronenberg's 'Map to the Stars' starring Robert Pattinson, Mike Leigh's 'Mr Turner' starring Timothy Spall, the Dardenne brothers' 'Two Days One Night' starring Marion Cotillard and Tommy Lee Jones' 'The Homesman' starring Hilary Swank. Disappointments have included Olivier Dahan's 'Grace of Monaco' starring Nicole Kidman and Ryan Gosling's directing debut 'Lost River' starring Christina Hendricks. Take a look over our own top five Palme d'Or Winner predictions.

But for most movie fans, the even bigger news is that 'Star Wars: Episode VII' has started filming at Pinewood in London, complete with a competition fans can enter for a chance to actually appear in the movie. In a video clip for the charity initiative Star Wars: Force for Change, Jj Abrams explained this week that the programme will work with Unicef to help children around the world. Watch 'Star Wars: Force For Change' Trailer.

Ryan Gosling was the guy; plastering the walls of Tumblr pages with endless looping gifs of his chiselled physique. He wanted more, and despite being linked with every film requiring a handsome, brooding lead, he turned his hand to directing and writing with ‘Lost River’.

'Mad Men' Recap Season 7 Episode 3: It's Chilly At The Top

Jon Hamm Christina Hendricks

Poor Don Draper: episode three of the seventh season of the hit HBO series Mad Men saw the philandering advertising genius as drunk and as sad as ever as he was simultaneously pushed away by estranged wife Megan and SC&P, the company where he used to be king. Don's marriage was at breaking point when he received a call from LA informing him that Megan is having trouble dealing with rejection from auditions.

Don tells her to "Stop acting like a lunatic" and reveals that he has been on a forced leave of absence. Upset that Don hasn't been in LA during his time of work, Megan sends him packing, saying "This is the way it ends. It's going to be so much easier for both of us."

Dr Who Star Matt Smith Cast In Ryan Gosling's 'How To Catch A Monster'

Ryan Gosling Matt Smith Christina Hendricks Benedict Cumberbatch

Doctor Who star Matt Smith has been cast in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut How To Catch A Monster, The Guardian reports. The movie will be written by Drive star Gosling, with Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes already cast. Hendricks plays the role of Billy, a mother of two who finds herself entering a “macabre underworld” when her teenage son Bones discovers a secret road, which leads to an underwater town.

What results will be something betwixt a modern fairytale and a film noir fantasy. The film’s synopsis reveals “Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.” Not much else is known, at least not publicly, about the film and it’s not clear what role Matt Smith will play, though it’s understood he will be the male lead. Though Eva Mendes (Gosling’s girlfriend) is said to be attached to the movie, her role is also not known, as yet. Smith recently finished his third series of Doctor Who and will begin filming How To Catch A Monster in the Spring.

It looks as though Matt may well be following in the footsteps of Benedict Cumberbatch, an equally ‘quintessentially British’ actor making a name for himself in Hollywood. It’s a pretty big deal for Smith to have landed the role in Gosling’s movie, which has been attracting attention since it was announced back in August. And of course, having played Doctor Who, he’s plenty of expertise when it comes to dealing with monsters.

Ginger And Rosa Trailer

Ginger and Rosa are teenage girls in the '60s and have vowed to always be the very best of friends. Together they skip school, do each other's hair and talk about everything from politics to the latest teen magazine articles. Both of them lead difficult home lives, with Rosa struggling without a father figure in her life and Ginger's mother tied to the four walls of their home while her activist father fights against the Cold War. Both are wishing to rebel against their dull lives in search of adventure and fulfilling their dreams. However, as the threat of a nuclear apocalypse draws near, the girls are divided by the paths they choose to take; Ginger wants to follow in her father's footsteps and protest against the bomb threat, determined to stay alive, while Rosa just wants to spend time with boys and live the life she has now rather than worry about the furture. Unfortunately, it's Ginger's father Roland that she takes an interest in which only looks to cause more problems. As Ginger seeks the help and guidance from two gay men (both named Mark) and an American poet named Bella, plenty of relationships look set to fall apart and the conflict closest to home becomes the biggest threat in their lives.

'Ginger and Rosa' is a coming-of-age drama about the opportunity ridden world of the sixties directed and written by Sally Potter ('The Man Who Cried', 'The Tango Lesson', 'Orlando').

Starring: Elle Fanning, Christina Hendricks, Alice Englert, Annette Bening, Timothy Spall, Oliver Platt, Alessandro Nivola, Jodhi May, Oliver Milburn, Greg Bennett, Andrew Hawley, Richard Strange, Matt Hookings, Marcus Shakesheff,
Director: Sally Potter

Forget their billing as co-stars, there's only one star in town when Christina Hendricks makes an appearance on the red carpet, and Elle Fanning and Alice Englebert had to take a back seat to the 37 year-old as she grabbed the lion's share of the spotlight at a screening of Ginger & Rosa yesterday at the AFI FIlm Festival (November 7). Hendricks wore a sequined low-cut figure-hugging top that showed off her cleavage, matching it with an also-sequined headpiece.

Ginger And Rosa Review

OK

An extraordinary cast lifts this grim British drama into something watchable, even if the script ultimately gives up trying to make any sense. The main problem is that the story is very badly fragmented, but it still captures a vivid sense of how it felt to grow up in 1962 Britain. And the actors give performances that bring the characters to life even in scenes that are somewhat melodramatic.

Ginger and Rosa (Fanning and Englert) are inseparable 16-year-olds who were born in the same hospital on the same day. As they both ponder the horrific possibilities of the Cold War, their reactions begin to diverge, perhaps their first disagreement ever. Ginger's parents (Hendricks and Nivola) are liberal-minded and about to separate yet again, so she takes a militant approach to stopping nuclear annihilation. Rosa lives with her deeply religious single mother (May) and believes that the only thing to do is pray about it. But the thing that drives a real wedge between the girls is Ginger's suspicion that her dad might be having an affair with Rosa.

In the early scenes, Potter establishes the girls as imaginative friends with free spirits who do everything together. Then the plot begins to take increasingly dark twists and turns, leading to a series of awkward or downright horrible confrontations that are freaky and emotional but also thoroughly mawkish. There's a lot of glowering and weeping on display from everyone on-screen. Fortunately Fanning and newcomer Englert maintain a loose honesty in their performances that helps carry us through the difficult moments. And the starry supporting cast is terrific.

Getting Ready For The Primetime Emmys: Our Predictions!

Bryan Cranston Vince Gilligan Claire Danes Lena Dunham Jim Parsons Aaron Paul Christina Hendricks

The 64th Annual Primetime Emmys kicks off this Sunday (September 23rd) and what better way to spend a Friday night than trying to predict who’ll walk home with the big prizes? None. There’s none, apart from maybe watching some of the shows nominated.

The headline this year will be Breaking Bad v Mad Men, and all things considered, it looks like Walter White v Gus will snatch it for Vince Gilligan’s meth-lord drama. Breaking Bad has been somewhat of a revelation since Mr White first approached Pinkman to propose a small time meth empire, but it’ll be fondly remembered in TV lover’s hearts as one of the greatest shows to ever grace a box-set. Contact Music predicts Breaking Bad to break Mad Men’s spell, halting the 50’s advertising magnate’s quest for a 5th Primetime Emmy.

Elsewhere in the drama category are; Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones and Homeland, and you can guarantee that HBO’s prohibition crime drama will clean up on any set design, make up and costume categories. Claire Danes should pick up Outstanding actress in a drama for her startling role in terrorist thriller Homeland, whilst we tip Bryan Cranston to make it a special evening for AMC by picking up his fourth Emmy award for the male award.

Video - Christina Hendricks Ignores Tony Scott Questions On Beverly Hills Shopping Trip

'Mad Men' actress Christina Hendricks goes shopping with a friend for a new handbag at Melrose Place in Beverly Hills. She ignores photographers who follow them up the street and does not comment on one paparazzo's question which was: 'Do you have any comments on the tragic death of Tony Scott?'.

The Tennessee born beauty has recently completed filming for a role in the upcoming '60s drama 'Ginger and Rosa' as well as Neil LaBute drama 'Seconds of Pleasure'. She is most well-known for playing Joan Harris in the TV drama 'Mad Men' and has also appeared in 'Drive' alongside Ryan Gosling

Detachment Review

Good
An almost overpowering sense of hopelessness makes this education-system drama difficult to watch. Fortunately, it's directed and acted with enough sensitivity to stir our sympathies. Although we're not sure we want to go wherever this bleak story might be heading.

Henry (Brody) takes a month-long assignment teaching at a tough school run by beleaguered principal Carol (Harden). Unflappable in the face of the unruly students, he calmly tries to get through to the teens. He clicks with fellow teacher Sarah (Hendricks). As a substitute, Henry's job is to maintain order, which seems like an impossible challenge. So he instead reaches out to a teen hooker (Gayle), thinking he might actually be able to make a difference in her life. But he can't help but wonder if he's doing more harm than good.

Drive Review

Extraordinary
Based on the James Sallis novel, this lean, stylish thriller is confidently assembled to pull us into an outrageous series of events. And it's no surprise that Refn won best director at Cannes for his fine work here.

A young Hollywood stunt driver (Gosling) moonlights as a getaway driver, overseen by his mentor Shannon (Cranston), who has just negotiated a partnership with businessman Bernie (Brooks) and his shady partner Nino (Perlman). But the driver's isolated life is breached when he gets to know single mother Irene (Mulligan) and her young son (Leos) who live in his building. And when Irene's husband (Isaac) is released from prison, the driver offers to help clear an old score so he can start with a fresh slate. Of course, nothing goes as planned.

I Don't Know How She Does It Review

OK
There are plenty of skilled people behind this female-empowerment movie, but the film badly botches its core message. The script may reflect a certain reality about the sexes, but it also misses the point.

In Boston, Kate (Parker) has a loving husband, Richard (Kinnear), and two adorable children. Everyone watches her in wonder as she juggles her responsibilities as a wife, mother and high-powered investment banker. But the constant business trips are taking their toll, especially when she's required to work regularly in New York with investor Jack (Brosnan). It's a struggle, but Kate keeps everything running. The question is whether anyone is actually happy with the situation.
