Jupiter Ascending Trailer

Jupiter Jones has an unfortunate life, barely scraping by with her job cleaning toilets as a janitor. She wouldn't have thought that her life would ever be anything meaningful, but she couldn't be more wrong. One day she is captured and an attempt is made on her life, but she finds herself spectacularly rescued by a charming, if unusual-looking, warrior; a half-man, half-human hybrid who has been genetically modified for the interplanetary military. It's he who leads her to the truth about herself and her destiny. Having been born under a night sky where the stars aligned to form her extraordinary future, Jupiter is the foretold forthcoming Queen of the Universe who has been prophesised to usurp the power of the current King and Queen. Living in fear of their imminent fall from power, the rulers order her to be disposed of as soon as possible. Will Jupiter succeed in her rise to power, or will she be praying to return to her uneventful life on earth?

Jupiter Ascending - Teaser Trailer

Jupiter Jones is an impoverished janitor who dreams of a life with much more purpose than she is living. She is convinced that her life will always be one of the many in the world that is simply unimportant, but there are others out there who think differently. Jupiter was born under a night sky whose stars traced a very definite and critical destiny for her. Little does she know that the Earth is a tiny speck in a much larger cosmos ruled over by Queen of the Universe, but also that her genetic make-up makes her the one and only threat to the Queen as she is biologically destined to usurp her title. When an attempt is made on her life, she is rescued by former military hunter Caine; a genetically modified hybrid with human and wolf DNA. Will Jupiter find the strength to fulfil her destiny? Or is it something she could simply do without?

Surviving Evil Review

OK
An enjoyable B-movie vibe plus vivid characters makes this cheesy jungle thriller far more enjoyable than it should be. And as it gets increasingly ridiculous, the plot gets funnier by the moment. Although perhaps that wasn't the intention.

On an idyllic Filipino island, intrepid survivalist Seb (Zane) arrives to film his new TV show. Tense producer Rachel (Barnes) has a history with sexy cameraman Dex (Moss), while blonde newbie Phoebe (Cole) is trying to learn the ropes, as is local girl Chill (Mendoza). But their guide Joey (Torre) has a dark secret. He also knows something about the mythological shapeshifting monsters that are prowling in search of men to kill and women to impregnate. If anyone survives it'll be a miracle.

The Deaths of Ian Stone Review

Good
If Groundhog Day collided with Final Destination and The Butterfly Effect after getting rear ended by The Matrix, you'd have The Deaths of Ian Stone, an imaginative and unpredictable science fiction thriller that lends itself to the most recent 8 Films To Die For, After Dark Films' nationwide nine-day horror film festival held annually in November.

Groundhog Day, of course, followed an everyman as he relived a comically different version of the title day after day. Ian Stone approaches the frustrations of an all-American guy being stuck in a déjà vu time warp, as well, except with a lot more blood. Everyday, twenty-something Ian Stone (Mike Vogel) wakes up living a different life, and before the end of the day, meets a horrific death.

What A Girl Wants Review

Grim

Knowing full well that the audience for "What a Girl Wants" would consist almost entirely of 'tween girls too young to recognize its artificiality and paint-by-numbers banality, director Dennie Gordon doesn't even bother trying to make the picture palpable to anyone with more discerning tastes.

A lollypops-and-rainbows adventure about a free-spirited New York teenager (the Nickelodeon-launched Amanda Bynes) running away to London to find the blue-blooded daddy she's never known (Colin Firth), it's a movie that virtually ignores its raison d'etre of father-daughter bonding in favor of stock tourist footage (with Bynes hanging off the back of a double-decker bus), music-video shopping montages, rivalries with snooty soon-to-be step-sisters, and flirtations with an unthreateningly cute working-class boy (Oliver James) who plays guitar and rides a motorcycle.

Growing up in a fifth-floor Chinatown walkup with her bohemian wedding-singer single mom (Kelly Preston), Daphne Reynolds (Bynes) has always heard the story of how her parents met as globetrotting college kids and were married by a Bedouin tribal chief before going to England to "get married for real" (the film makes several such offensively ethnocentric gaffes). But when his crusty family sent her packing and lied to the young Lord Henry Dashwood (Firth), saying she had left him, mom went back to the U.S. pregnant and Henry matured into a stiff-upper-lip politician.
