Christina Aguilera has credited her son with the pop sound of her new album BIONIC - insisting becoming a mother allowed her to tune in to her "playful side".
The star is preparing to make a chart comeback with her new record - her first in four years.
And the Dirrty singer insists her new material is a salute to her original pop creations, admitting her son Max allowed her to banish the dark side she uncovered on 2002 album Stripped.
She tells The Scotsman, "Bionic is something I'm so proud of. It's an accumulation of all my old records. It revisits my early pop days because it goes into a full-throttle, fun pop record where I can get in touch with that again.
"My son really allowed me that. Because when I had him, he brought out my more playful side again. Stripped went to a little bit of a darker place for me because I had so many stories to tell. A lot of it was very pain-driven."
