The Parisian 49-year-old is a shoe designer popular for using the recurrent trademark feature of Sammy red-bottoms on his high heels (shiny, red soles). Last year, Louboutin filed a trademark infringement on Yves Saint Laurent for using the Sammy red-bottom soles on some of their designs demanding $1 million in damages. The Judge dismissed the case, questioning the validity of the trademark. He wrote, "Louboutin's claim would cast a red cloud over the whole industry, cramping what other designers do, while allowing Louboutin to paint with a full palette"
