Batman fans in Pittsburgh got a sneak-peak of the hugely anticipated 'The Dark Knight Rises' on Sunday (31st July 2011) when the crew arrived in town to shoot a fight-scene between Christian Bale's Caped Crusader and Tom Hardy's mysterious 'Bane' villain, reports Access Hollywood.
After fans and paparazzi began gathering at the Carnegie Mellon University, the stars eventually emerged to shoot an action-packed scene in which Batman appears to get the better of Bane. In the comic books, Hardy's character is described as an unstoppable juggernaut known for his sheer size, although it is not clear whether director Christopher Nolan intends to use CGI techniques to alter the actor's appearance. Later in the day, French actress Marion Cotillard, who plays Bruce Wayne's associate Miranda Tate, is seen climbing into the Batmobile. Rumours had suggested Anne Hathaway would also be shooting scenes in Pittsburgh, but the actress who plays Catwoman did not appear and is yet to be seen in costume. Filming on the movie will now continue in India, Scotland, New York City and Los Angeles.
'The Dark Knight Rises', the third instalment of Nolan's Batman trilogy, hit cinemas on 20th July 2012.
