Once again the fate of the galaxy is in the hands of a wise-cracking human male, a few aliens, a racoon and a tree. And if the new trailer for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is anything to go by, this time it's all about family.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2''Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is all about family

So the first film brought together a motley crew of characters who band together each with their own goal in mind, and the intention of going solo once their mission is over. But by the time they've saved the galaxy - and, indeed, saved each other - it seems their newly formed bond is now easily broken.

There are a lot of familial issues going on between them though. First of all you have Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and her adoptive sister Nebula (Karen Gillan) apparently trying to rebuild some kind of relationship despite their ermm... 'disagreements' over their father Thanos in the first movie.

Nebula has her own opinions about the group before becoming a part of it. 'All you do is yell at each other', Nebula tells the Guardians. 'You're not friends.'

'No', Drax the Destroyer agrees (Dave Bautista). 'We're family.' And since everything Drax says is painfully earnest, you know that he's sincere.

Meanwhile, Rocket (Bradley Cooper) has become something of a father figure to Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), who is having to learn everything all over again. He might not be the best example for a child, but something tells us Baby Groot will be the one to save the day once again with his newfound knowledge of explosives.

And speaking of fathers, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) finally finds his own dad, Ego (Kurt Russell), having scoured the galaxy for him after discovering that he was in fact half-alien. Ego happens to be a mystical cosmic being, not that that impresses Peter or his friends, but their relationship is rocked when it turns out he has an adoptive daughter named Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is set to be released on May 5th 2017.
