Chris Pratt was ''pretty angry'' after his dad died as he found it hard to deal with his grief.

The 35-year-old actor was shooting 'Jurassic World' on location in New Orleans when he learned his father Dan had lost his battle with multiple sclerosis, and he tried to ''compartmentalise'' his feelings away from his work by getting drunk and confrontational.

He said: ''I knew, being the lead in the movie, that I was really responsible for everybody's attitude.

''So I compartmentalised it all and dealt with it in my own way, but not openly for people to see. I got pretty angry and got drunk and almost got in a fight with a drug dealer outside of my hotel room.''

When the illness took its toll on his body, Dan split from Chris' mother and moved into an assisted living facility, where he ''gave up on life''.

And though the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star - who has two-year-old son Jack with wife Anna Faris - was upset by his dad's passing, he admits he and his family feel a sense of relief at times.

He told GQ magazine: ''I can go spend time with my sister or my mom and not have this nagging feeling, like we've betrayed Dad and we're not there at his bedside when he never f***ing wanted us there anyway.

''I think he did but he was too proud to show any appreciation if you went to visit him, you know. It was a sad, f***ed-up situation.''
