The Lego Movie Filmmakers Chris Miller And Phil Lord Have Signed On To Adapt True Crime Podcast Serial For A New Tv Series.
The directing duo has optioned the rights to the investigative franchise to document co-creator and host Sarah Koenig's findings as she investigates a new case.
Koenig and her co-creator and co-producer Julie Snyder will help to develop the small screen adaptation for chiefs at Fox 21 TV Studios.
"Chris and Phil take an unexpected approach to telling stories and that is so appealing to us at Serial," says Snyder. "They experiment. They don't mimic formulas. Developing a show with them is exciting because we feel like we speak the same language, only they're smarter than us."

The Lego Movie Filmmakers Chris Miller And Phil Lord Are Taking Charge Of A New Star Wars Spin-off Movie About Hans Solo.
The directing duo will explore the origins of Solo in the new project, which will be written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan ahead of a 2018 release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Casting details have yet to be announced. Harrison Ford has portrayed the character onscreen since the original Star Wars movies and reprises the role for the highly-anticipated sequel, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.
The Han Solo stand-alone movie is the latest Star Wars anthology film to be developed by Disney studio executives.

Rob Schrab has been brought in to replace the previous incumbents Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who won't be returning to direct the movie, but will produce the 'The LEGO Movie Sequel' alongside Dan Lin and Roy Lee.

With the upcoming release of 'The Penguins of Madagascar', Benedict Cumberbatch and John Malkovich who star in the film. Cumberbatch plays Classified, an arctic wolf and leader of the team The North Wind, while Malkovich plays Dr. Octavius Brine - a villainous octopus. The two actors quiz each other on the animals that they play in the film, with Cumberbatch answering questions like 'how many members are in the average wolf pack?', and Malkovich being asked 'how many hearts do octopi have?' In between questions and answers, the interview contains clips of the upcoming film.
