Award-winning British comedian Chris Langham was arrested on 30 November (05) for alleged child porn offences.

Langham, 56, was named Best TV Comedy Actor at last night's (15DEC05) British Comedy Awards - but he did not attend the London awards ceremony due to illness.

The IN THE THICK OF IT star, who was a writer on THE MUPPET SHOW in the 1970s, was interviewed by police officers after they raided his house in Cranbrook, England, and confiscated his personal computer.

In a statement made through his lawyers, father of five Langham says, "I was arrested by police in an inquiry into offences relating to computer use.

"I have not been charged with any offence and I have made no admission to criminal acts. I ask that you respect the privacy of my family for whom this event has been extremely traumatic."

A Kent police spokesperson says, "A 56-year-old man was arrested in connection with an internet-related criminal investigation. Inquiries are continuing."

Langham was released on police bail and is due to return to Tonbridge police station in February (06).
