Rap superstar T.I. regrets speaking out about close pal Chris Brown's alleged attack on his girlfriend [Rihanna] - because he had no idea how serious the situation was.
Brown, 19, is facing a felony count of making criminal threats after turning himself into police on Sunday (08Feb09) following the reported incident earlier that day.
During an interview on Monday (09Feb09), Live Your Life hitmaker T.I. admitted he had spoken to Brown hours after his arrest and claimed the R&B singer was barely fazed by the incident.
He said, "I spoke to him today. He's cool. I guess he's a little concerned about the situation, but he's still the same Chris."
T.I., who is due to serve a year behind bars for federal weapons charges, also revealed the advice he had given to Brown: "I told him this too shall pass. Hey man, you people gotta remember, we celebrities and we entertainers but we still human. All of us. Don't expect us not to make mistakes 'cause we will'."
But the rapper has now followed in actor Terrence Howard's footsteps and retracted his words, admitting he "made a mistake of commenting before understanding the situation".
Hustle & Flow star Howard issued a statement on Wednesday (11Feb09) insisting it was "insensitive" of him to comment on Brown's legal troubles after appearing to show support for the star without knowing he was accused of hitting a woman.
