Chris Brown has landed the first number-one album of his career after his new record 'F.A.M.E' shot to the top of the charts.
The controversial R&B singer, who has been widely criticised for his recent behaviour on Good Morning America, sold 270,000 copies of his new album to beat Jennifer Hudson to the top spot, reports Billboard.The 21-year-old hit the headlines last week after he became agitated during questioning from Robin Roberts on the morning talk show. A dressing room window was allegedly broken but it's unclear who was responsible. Earlier this week, his appearance on Dancing With The Stars was slammed by critics who thought he should never have been booked considering his violent past. In 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then girlfriend Rihanna and was sentenced to five years of probation and 180 days of community labour. However, he was recently praised by a judge for completing a rehabilitation program. The singer edged out Jennifer Hudson to take the top spot, with British singer Adele in third place. New York indie rock band The Strokes found themselves at number four with their new album 'Angles'.
Chris Brown's recent performance on Dancing With The Stars resulted in the show's best ever results show ratings. 19 million viewers tuned in to watch the episode, a 31 per cent increase on the same week last year.
