Chris Brown and Rihanna were both mentioned during an awkward presenting error at last night's Bet Awards in Los Angeles (26th June 2011). Some lucky viewers of the show were chosen to present the 'Viewer's Choice' gong but after getting up on stage they read the wrong names from the teleprompter, reports Tmz.com.
One of the presenters announced the winner as Chris Brown but as the audience began applauding, she quickly interrupted saying, "I'm sorry, the winner is Rihanna". Despite the fact that Rihanna's name appeared on the teleprompter, another of the presenters announced Drake as a third winner. The R&B star coolly appeared on stage assuming he was the recipient of the award and began making an acceptance speech. After the awards show, a Bet representative announced Chris Brown was indeed the correct winner and that "human error" was to blame on the part of the Bet producers. During the epic three-and-a-half hour show, Brown scooped three other awards including Best Male R&B artist and 'Best Collaboration' for his song 'Look At Me Now' with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.
Other highlights from the 2011 Bet Awards included Mary J Blige's performance of 'All Night Long' and 'Real Love', and Steve Harvey's acceptance of the 'Humanitarian Award'. Alicia Keys unveiled a brand-new song, and performed two of her biggest hits 'Fallin' and 'A Woman's Worth'.
