Teenage rapper Chris Brown is refusing to let go of the top spot on the US singles charts - he's just scored his fifth week at number one with smash hit RUN IT!

But Mariah Carey's DON'T FORGET ABOUT US is challenging Brown for next week's Christmas number one after jumping up the charts from number seven to number two.

Carey enjoyed 14 weeks at the top of the Billboard chart this summer (05) with her hit balled WE BELONG TOGETHER.

The pop superstar is already full of festive cheer - her Christmas ditty ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU has toppled Eminem's WHEN I'M GONE from the top of the US Hot Digital Songs chart.

Meanwhile, back to the leading Hot 100 singles chart, D4L's LAFFY TAFFY falls to number three and NELLY'S GRILLZ and former number one GOLD DIGGER by Kanye West round out the top five.

And there's some good news for British songwriter James Blunt, whose single YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL storms up to number 22 on the new chart after becoming the week's greatest sales gainer.
