Chord Overstreet, the popular Glee actor who plays the role of 'Sam Evans', is being axed as a regular cast-member on the hit comedy-musical, according to Deadline.com. In a dramatic shake-up, creator Ryan Murphy has decided to downgrade Overstreet's status to an occasional guest star.
The actor's exit from the show paves the way for Darren Criss, who plays 'Blaine', and Harry Shum Jr, who plays Mike, to become fully fledged regulars for the upcoming third series. Overstreet joined the award-winning Fox show last fall and quickly established himself as one of the best loved characters. Late on Friday (1st July 2011), the actor tweeted a cryptic message, telling fans, "It's been a good year. Too bad it's over. Time for summer and starting fresh". Murphy had hinted at a cast shake-up when speaking to Ryan Seacrest two weeks ago, saying, "The show to me is about the way you express yourself as you start to move out into the world as a fresh, young person". Joining Overstreet on the side-lines for series three will be Ashley Fink, who appeared in almost every episode of the previous season but whose part will be scaled part for the new instalment.
Chord Overstreet began his acting career on the web series 'Private' as 'Josh Hollins'. He has modelled for 'Famous Footwear' and 'Gap' and will star in the forthcoming movie 'Warrior', with ASHLEY GREENE.
