Chloe Moretz has signed up to star in indie drama 'Hick'.
The 13-year-old actress will play troubled teen Luli in the coming-of-age movie, which will be directed by Derick Martini in an adaptation of Andrea Portes novel.
The plot is based around 13-year-old Luli, whose parents are both alcoholics and she is left to fend for herself when they both leave home, Variety reports.
She goes on to take a gun and hitchhikes to Las Vegas, where she runs into a group of undesirables before finding herself caught up in a botched robbery.
In one harrowing scene, Luli is raped by one of the men she meets.
Filming is set to begin in New Mexico later this year.
Despite her young age, Moretz has become an in-demand actress.
Having recently starred as Hit Girl in 'Kick-Ass' and recently finished filming 'Let Me In' and 'The Fields', she has also landed a leading part in Martin Scorsese's 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret'.
