Singer Chesney Hawkes' bid to resurrect his pop career took an embarrassing turn at a recent gig in front of thousands of fans - when the CD he was miming to came to a sudden halt.

The 31-year-old was performing his 1991 hit THE ONE AND ONLY at a local radio roadshow in St Albans, near London, when the backing track he was miming to stopped - leaving the humiliated star red-faced.

He admitted to the unimpressed audience, "That serves me right for playing the CD."
