Fans of pop superstar Cher flew into a panic on Monday (08Apr13) when a Twitter topic related to MARGARET THATCher led them to think their singing idol had died.
The former U.K. Prime Minister passed away on Monday (08Apr13) after suffering a stroke, and a topic titled 'nowthatchersdead' began circulating on the social networking website.
However, fans of the Believe hitmaker misread the title and began flooding the forum with tributes to Cher.
British funnyman Ricky Gervais became aware of the massive mix-up and tried to clarify the confusion for his followers, writing, "Some people are in a frenzy over the hashtag #nowthatchersdead. It's 'Now Thatcher's dead'. Not, 'Now that Cher's dead'. Just sayin'."
Cher seemed unaware of the controversy on Monday and continued to update followers on the progress of her latest recording studio sessions, even posting a picture of herself on her Twitter.com page.
