Welsh singer Charlotte Church has been forced to return to work after admitting her fortune is dwindling.

The former child star stepped out of the spotlight to focus on motherhood, but has recently tried to relaunch herself as a credible artist, funding the release of new music herself.

Her worth has also taken a blow, dropping from an estimated $42 million (£25 million) to $18.7 million (£11 million) in recent years, and now Church admits she will be working for the rest of her life to pay the bills.

In a new interview with BBC Wales, she says, "The tax man is looking at my accounts wondering where I'm hiding all my money. But it's exaggerated because it makes a better story.

"I will have to work for the rest of my life. Not because I want to but because I have to. I always understood that all that stuff isn't important and (my career) was not the be and end all. My life is so full and so rich I definitely feel like I've had the good side of the deal."
