Charlize Theron has officially become a mother, having adopted a child name Jackson. The Oscar-winning actress, 36, is not thought to be a relationship, though has made no secret of her desire to start a family.
Confirming the good news, Theron's representative told People Magazine, "(Charlize) has adopted a child. She is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson". The youngster is the first child for the South-African born actress, who recently won praise for playing an author suffering from depression in 'Young Adult'. Back in 2003, she scooped the Academy Award for the Best Actress for her role as a serial killer in 'Monster'. No further details of the adoption have been released. The actress began a relationship with the Irish actor Stuart Townsend after working together on the movies Trapped and Head in the Clouds, though the couple split in January 2010 after nearly nine years together. The actress has often spoken out about not feeling the need to get married, saying last year that walking down the aisle was "never something that was important to me".
