Even though Charlie Hunnam was only attached The 'Fifty Shades of Grey' film adaptation for a matter of months, more than a year ago, the British actor has found himself once again asking questions as to why he pulled out of the production.

Hunnam opens up about his decision to drop out of 'Fifty Shades'

The upcoming flick, which has completed shooting, went through a tumultuous time before filming even began after Hunnam dropped out of playing Christian Grey just weeks before production was scheduled to start, and the reason for this is because he was simply too busy.

"It's very personal to me, and every decision I make comes from my heart," he recently told Entertainment Weekly. "There's nothing ever monetarily or fame-seeking or any of the other motivations that sometimes go hand-in-hand with this profession... It was very painful, and it was very difficult [decision]."

The 34 year-old star would have only had 48 hours after finishing the 'Sons of Anarchy' season 6 finale to prepare for the role of Christian Grey. Furthermore, if filming 'Fifty Shades' lasted longer than scheduled he would have had to postpone production on another film he was set to star in titled 'Crimson Peak.'

"All of a sudden, I'm getting all of these wonderful people approaching me and asking me to work with them. It's very hard to say no when you love and respect people," he explained. "I just kind of made a bit of a rookie mistake in that one in biting off more than I could chew."

After receiving a large amount of criticism for pulling out of 'Fifty Shades,' the person he feels like he let down the most is the director, Sam Taylor-Johnson. "I absolutely adore her, and I gave her my word," he said. "[I] committed to going on this journey with her."

The upcoming movies' producers had to settle on a replacement to star alongside actress Dakota Johnson's Anastasia Steele fast, and they eventually picked Irish actor/model Jamie Dornan. 'Fifty Shades of Grey' is slated to hit theatres on Feb 13th, 2015.
