Fist Fight Trailer

It's safe to say that most kids experience some kind of big fight in the playground after school during their high school years, whether they're involved or just bystanders... but usually the people throwing punches aren't the teachers. When Strickland threatens to beat up Campbell after school following a disagreement, Campbell doesn't take it seriously until it becomes clear that the whole school knows what's going down. Problem is, Campbell doesn't know the first thing about fighting and Strickland is totally ruthless. Campbell has few options, but whatever he chooses to do he's probably dead anyway.

Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis And Charlie Day Return In The Regrettable 'Horrible Bosses 2'

Jason Bateman Jason Sudeikis Charlie Day Jennifer Aniston

Every year we get a few new examples of sequels no-one asked for; follow-ups to movies that weren't particularly memorable to begin with but for whatever reason made enough cash to spawn a second instalment in the feeble hope that a franchise might be in the making.

Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Jason Bateman in 'Horrible Bosses 2'
[L-R] Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Jason Bateman in 'Horrible Bosses 2'

The current example is 'Horrible Bosses 2', the continuing adventures of three morons (Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day) who spectacularly failed to take care of their boss problems the first time around. The prime selling point for the original film was Jennifer Aniston talking dirty, so of course that role has been beefed up considerably this time. But critics have slammed the sequel for being even more vacuous than its predecessor.

Horrible Bosses 2 - Teaser Trailer

Having previously got involved with a scheme to kill their abusive bosses (a plan which didn't go exactly as they thought), Nick, Dale and Kurt think they can do anything. Now under three new bosses that are equally mean, they decide that they want to start up their own business so that they don't have to take orders from superiors ever again. Everything seems to be in place until a cunning investor forces them to lose control of their entrepreneurial plans. With no legal standing and no money, the trio turn to their trusty crime consultant who suggests they start to be a little more ruthless if they want to pull off their latest scheme; to kidnap the investor's son and hold him for ransom. Nick, Dale and Kurt are hoping that everything will go to plan this time - but that's looking unlikely.

After SNL, Where Does Jason Sudeikis Go Next?

Jason Sudeikis Bill Hader Fred Armisen Andy Samberg Seth Meyers Kristen Wiig Jennifer Aniston Emma Roberts Seth Gordon Jason Bateman Charlie Day

Jason Sudeikis, the most high profile member of the Saturday Night Live cast, has announced he will not be returning to the show in the fall. Sudeikis is following comedians Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers and Kristen Wiig out of the long-running show, leaving NBC bosses with a dilemma on their hands as they seek to keep the show relevant, popular and most of all funny for its 39th season.

Sudeikis, who has worked on the show for 10 years, announced the news during a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman,

"Yeah, I'm going to leave. Yeah, I'm not coming back next fall." he told the veteran host, to a bewildered audience. Letterman had apparently not heard of the departure and began asking the actor questions about life working on the show, with the 37-year-old dropping the bombshell shortly after.

US Weekend Box Office Results: 'Grown Ups 2' Defies Critics By Placing Ahead Of 'Pacific Rim'

Grown Ups 2 has placed ahead of Pacific Rim in the US Weekend Box Office. Adam Sandler's comedy received highly critical reviews, in contrast with the mixed response Pacific Rim received.

Critics may have universally panned Adam Sandler's latest comedic contribution yet it's somehow managed to beat the other new release, Pacific Rim, in the US Weekend Box Office (12th-14th July). Despicable Me 2 topped the Box Office charts for the second week in a row.

Ron Perlman Opens Up On His 'Pacific Rim' Cameo

Ron Perlman Guillermo Del Toro Charlie Day Idris Elba Charlie Hunnam

Apart from the epic set pieces, which saw huge robots fighting huge monsters from the deep, one of the best things about Pacific Rim were Charlie Day and Ron Perlman’s exchanges. Day - an eccentric scientist whose brilliance is only hampered by his own shortcomings – and Perlman – an imperious black-market oligarch with the gold-tipped shoes and outlandish outfit to match – enjoy possibly the best-scripted scenes in the film, so much so that they’re featured heavily in the trailer.

Ron PerlmanPerlman at the Pacific Rim premiere

"I got the impression that that character was supposed to be played by someone of a different ethnicity," says Perlman on the role to The Guardian, "and when Guillermo took over, he thought how about if we went with a completely oversized Jew from New York who dressed like PT Barnum, a purveyor of all things materialistic? It took a character that's completely full of shit to start with, then added a whole other layer of full of shit-ness, a double dose."

Monsters University Review

Excellent

Pixar revisits the characters from 2001's Monsters, Inc. for a frat-house prequel. Which is kind of an odd setting for a kids' movie. The comedy is more focussed on action sequences than characters this time, so it's not nearly as satisfying. But it's still a lot of fun, thanks to a constant barrage of sharp verbal and visual gags.

When he was just a child, Mike (Crystal) dreamed about becoming a scarer, capturing the screams of human children to provide power to Monstropolis. So he's thrilled when he enters Monsters University, and takes his studies very seriously. By contrast, his roommate Randy (Buscemi) is more interested in partying, while classmate Sulley (Goodman) is lazily coasting on the legacy of his famed scarer dad. Then Mike and Sulley end up on the wrong side of Dean Hardscrabble (Mirren), who gives them one chance to stay in school: they have to win the Scare Games. But the only frat-house that needs them is made up of unscary misfits: nice-guy Dan (Murray), two-headed dimwit Terry/Terri (Hayes/Foley), naive five-eyed Squishy (Sohn) and furry philosopher Art (Day).

We never really doubt where this is going, but the filmmakers have a lot of fun along the way, and the story does take some surprising twists. Essentially, it's the same premise as Glee, with nerdy outcasts banding together to draw on their personal talents and show the cool kids that they're not losers. The script never really develops any of the side characters beyond one key personality trait, but the relationship between Mike and Sulley has a real kick of emotional resonance, superbly well-voiced by Crystal and Goodman. And the bromance between these two is even more enjoyable than all the colourful mayhem and snappy joking around.

Pacific Rim Review

OK

The best thing about this massive blockbuster is the way it updates the classic Japanese monster movie to the 21st century, with a first-rate cast and staggeringly good effects. Sadly, the script isn't up to scratch, throwing in enjoyable comedy and corny melodrama while maintaining such a formulaic structure that there isn't a single moment of actual suspense. We never doubt for a second how all of this is going to end or who will survive.

It all begins in the present day, as gigantic creatures called kaiju appear through a temporal rift in the Pacific Ocean floor near Hong Kong. They start attacking cities (inexplicably starting with San Francisco), and humanity takes years to fight back, building massive robots called jaegers that are piloted by two-man teams. Over even more years of fighting, the monsters learn how to stop the jaegers, so military leader Pentecost (Elba) assembles his best jaeger pilots in Hong Kong, including the haunted Becket (Hunnam) and father-son Aussie duo Herc and Chuck (Martini and Kazinsky). And as they plan their assault, the scientist Newt (Day) makes a startling discovery about the kaiju.

Most of the film is played as a massively over-serious action movie in which manly, muscly heroes set out to save the planet. The relational melodrama always feels like a distraction, including Pentecost's assistant (Kikuchi), who wants to be a pilot and carries a torch for Becket. There's also a dose of bromance as Newt tries to loosen up his so-British sidekick (Gorman). And to help spice things up, we also get some comic relief from Perlman, who is hilarious as a swaggering black-market dealer. None of these characters is very complicated, but the gifted actors all do what they can with the roles.

Charlie Day Reflects On His Move From Funny To Intelligent (But Still Funny) In Pacific Rim

Charlie Day Kanye West

Charlie Day, best known for his role as the manic, sweet but stupid wildcard from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and a dental assistant/Jennifer Aniston's sexual harassment victim in Horrible Bosses, will be making his first major move away from comedy when he stars in the upcoming Guillermo del Toro sci-fi action film Pacific Rim.

Pacific Rim Promises To Deliver "2,500 Tons Of Awesome" [Trailer]

Guillermo Del Toro Charlie Day Idris Elba

Fans at last month's WonderCon were treated to an exclusive trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim and that footage has now been released in full. The films sees Earth under attack from undersea alien invaders that can only be stopped by machines. The trailer is packed full with explosions, destruction and "2,500 tons of awesome" as Charlie Day's character puts it.

The movie gained some increased publicity last week when a feud appeared to be developing between del Toro and Transformers director Michael Bay. The latter appeared to hint that Pacific Rim was ripping off his machinery movies, though del Toro dissed the franchise as slick car commercials. "I thought Guillermo was mad at me, and he thought I was mad at him. We both exchanged calls today and realized nobody was mad at anybody except we were both mad at that reporter!" said Bay afterwards.

New Footage Of This Summer's Pacific Rim Gives Fans Their Most In-Depth Look At The Film Yet (Video)

Guillermo Del Toro Charlie Day Idris Elba

The attendees of this years WonderCon in Anaheim last month were the first lucky souls to set their peepers on an all-new trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's long awaited sci-fi robots vs aliens showdown Pacific Rim, but now the good people of Warner Brothers have given in to public pressure and shared the wealth with us all. The two and half minute clip shows off more of the upcoming summer blockbuster that us mere commoners are likely to have seen, which means more explosions, story analysis and most importantly of all; some good ol' hand-to-hand combat between a creature from the depths of the ocean and a kickass robot.

The video was uploaded on to YouTube earlier today and has already picked up more than it's fair share of views from eager moviegoers. The much-hyped action romp is your classic 'aliens threaten to destroy the human population' scenario, only this time the creatures that have been labelled as being both aliens and from the alien are up against Earth's retaliation; a fleet of human-controlled giant robots. Will Earth's action-packed plan work against the super-organised alien foes? Probably, unless it leaves room for a sequel.

Pacific Rim Trailer

It has always been thought that alien life would arrive on the planet from space, but when colossal monsters arise from the depths of the Pacific Ocean, it soon becomes clear that mankind are facing a threat unlike what they have ever anticipated before. The creatures are known as Kaiju and manage to effortlessly destroy cities around them, use up resources and take away millions of lives. While the Earth's population worry that the apocalypse has finally arrived, the military are less than willing to accept that fate and build enormous robots called Jaegers in an attempt to fight back. They work by having two people controlling them from the inside with their minds linked. However, even they are no match against the Kaiju and the defenders of Earth decide that they must enlist the help of an ex-pilot and untested trainee to bring to life an early model of a Jaeger that has earned much recognition despite being potentially just as useless as the others in this fight for the survival of Earth.

Directing and co-writing this action-packed sci-fi flick is Guillermo Del Toro ('Pan's Labyrinth', 'Hellboy') with writing credits also from Travis Beacham ('Clash of the Titans', 'Dog Days of Summer'). It is due to be released next summer; July 12th 2013.

Director: Guillermo del Toro

Horrible Bosses Review

Good
More amusing than hilarious, this silly comedy at least has moments that make us laugh out loud as its plot gets increasingly ridiculous. And the solid cast members really throw themselves into each scene.

Nick, Kurt and Dale (Bateman, Sudeikis and Day) are three friends who like their jobs but are tormented by their evil bosses (Spacey, Farrell and Aniston, respectively). When they decide they can't take any more abuse, they decide to do something drastic, hiring an inner-city hitman (Foxx) with an unprintable name and then trying to find key information about their bosses that they can use to bump them off. And of course nothing goes to even their pathetic attempt at a plan.

Going The Distance Review

Very Good
It might not be particularly original, but this rom-com at least takes a fresh approach to the formula. It also features two superbly winning actors in the lead roles, and the chemistry between them is utterly charming.

Garrett (Long) is struggling to get over a break-up when he meets Erin (Barrymore), a lively woman who connects with him both romantically and as a best friend. But Erin is only in New York for a summer internship, and when she returns to San Francisco their romance is strained by the 3,000 miles between them. Garrett's friends (Day and Sudeikis) aren't much help, while Erin's sister and brother-in-law (Applegate and Gaffigan) don't really get it. And as the months pass, Erin and Garrett have some difficult decisions to make.
