The Charlatans have announced a forest concert for the summer. They are the third and final headline act confirmed to perform in Delamere Forest, Cheshire, as part of the Forestry Commission's annual Forest Live concert series. It will be a home forest gig for the band who last appeared in Delamere Forest to a sell-out crowd in 2007.
Since their breakthrough hit, 'The Only One I Know' from their 1990 No 1 debut album, 'Some Friendly', The Charlatans have been a pioneering force in British alternative rock music. Subsequent top 10 albums include; 'Melting Pot', 'Us and Us Only', Wonderland' and 'Simpatico', together with further No 1 releases, 'The Charlatans' and 'Tellin' Stories', that continue to inspire young bands and fans from the next generation.
2013 sees the band return to their Big Mushroom studio to begin working on demos for a new album and also the release of 'Mountain Picnic Blues' DVD, a documentary on the band's epic LP, 'Tellin' Stories', from its creation in 1997 to the 15th anniversary edition of the album.
Forest Live is an independent programme organised by the Forestry Commission bringing music to new audiences without commercial branding or sponsorship. Income from the concerts is spent on improving the woodland for both people and wildlife.
Commenting on the booking, lead vocalist Tim Burgess said, "This is local gig for the band which makes it extra special for us and also we hope for our fans. Last time we were at Delamere Forest it was a great night and we're looking forward to playing there again."
The Charlatans plus guests will be performing:
