Review of Chapel Club's single O Maybe I
Formed in 2008, Chapel Club takes their name from the area in which they practised on London's Old Road. The line up was completed through introductions through mutual friends and now the quintet are preparing for a UK tour that takes place during February.
A quick view of some biographies declares this outfit to be of rock leanings, but 'O Maybe I' is very much an offering of mid-paced indie. A gloomy romanticism permeates through what is a solid but unspectacular number, though a vocal style akin to a crooning young Morrissey certainly isn't a bad thing. There's enough to suggest that Chapel Club are worth keeping an eye on, but on this evidence they're not to be hailed as the next big thing.
