Magic Mike looks as though it is already set to dominate the box office when it opens this weekend, with the film's studio Universal looking as though the scheme to get women to attend the movie in groups is working.
The male stripper movie starring Channing Tatum and Matthew Mcconaughey, was marketed by Universal as a film for women to see 'in groups' - and it seems that's exactly what people are doing. As moviegoers are more likely to buy tickets ahead of time when part of a large group, those looking to go to the cinemas in smaller groups or couples are more likely to purchase their tickets at the theatre. With all this taken into consideration, it looks as though Magic Mike is already favorite to be at the top of the pile when it opens this weekend.
The film accounts for 36 per cent of all ticket sales on movie-booking site Fandango.com, moving it slightly ahead of Pixar's latest film Brave, which is already in theatres, at 31 per cent. The film itself follows the story of a veteran male stripper (MCConaughey) who teaches a younger performer (Tatum) how to party, pick up women, and make easy money. It also stars Olivia Munn, Alex Pettyfer and JAMES MARTIN KELLY.
