Marvel has seen, and raised Warner Bros' recent DC Comics announcement by confirming that Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Inhumans will be joining it's cinematic universe. The studio unveiled the movies and release dates at an event in Hollywood on Tuesday (October 28, 2014).

The new slate includes Captain America: Civil War, a Doctor Strange movie - which looks set to star Benedict Cumberbatch - Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor: Ragnarok and perhaps most interestingly, Black Panther in 2017. The third Avengers movie, Infinity War - Part 1 is coming in 2018 with Part II to follow in 2019. Elsewhere, Captain Marvel and InHumans will also get releases, while the already announced Ant-Man will hit next year.

"When we have information we want to reveal, we reveal it," Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige told fans at the El Capitan Theatre. "Sometimes that's in a press release, sometimes that's in San Diego Comic-Con - if everything comes together well - and sometimes that's on a random Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the morning."

The event was also used to confirm 'Get On Up' actor Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, who Feige promises will have a "big part" in Civil War, too.

"I'm blessed to be part of this Marvel universe," Boseman said. "I look forward to making magic together."

The first 10 Marvel movies - which began in 2008 with Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk - have made over $7 billion worldwide. 

One other notable point from Feige's speech was his  defense of Marvel's decision not to make new standalone movies focused on Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow or Mark Ruffalo's Hulk.
