French-Canadian singer Celine Dion grew up so poor, she and her family used to turn their plates upside down after dinner so they could eat desert on a fresh surface.
The GRAMMY-winning superstar was one of 14 children in her house and her mother used her imagination to save having to purchase extra plates.
Dion says, "We used to have our meal and for dessert time we couldn't afford to have like 28 plates, so we had one plate for each member of the family.
"But when it was time for dessert we used to turn it around and we used to have our dessert in the middle of the back. Isn't that sweet? My mother was so smart."20/12/2004 09:47
