Many of Celine Dion's fans may not see her for quite a long time, on Wednesday (Aug 13th) the Canadian star vowed to take a hiatus from her singing career in indefinitely to care for her Cancer-stricken husband, René Angélil.

In the announcement, the 46 year-old songstress confirmed that her upcoming Las Vegas show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace has been postponed, as has her extensive tour of Asia which was originally scheduled to begin in the fall of this year.

Angélil underwent surgery this past December (2013) to remove a cancerous tumor from his throat, and Dion has also been battling an illness that has caused inflammation on her throat muscles, meaning that she hasn't performed any of her Las Vegas shows since July 29th.

"Rene's surgery last December (has) been a very difficult and stressful time for the couple as they deal with the day-to-day challenges of fighting this disease while trying to juggle a very active show business schedule, and raise their three young children," a press release read on Dion's website Wednesday.

"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children. I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support," the 'My Heart Will Go On' singer added.

There has been no timeline to suggest when Dion will return to her singing career, but all her fans around the globe will undoubtedly wish the pair a speedy recovery.
