The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker opened the show at Montreal's Metropolis concert hall, where Denis Blanchette was killed outside the stage door as members of the Parti Quebecois political party celebrated an election victory on 4 September (12).
The Monday night (01Oct12) gig, which also featured performances from Arcade Fire, Martha Wainwright and Anna MCGarrigle, raised money to be put in a trust for the late stage technician's four-year-old daughter, Amy.
Wainwright also presented a video tribute from her brother Rufus, who sang a version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.
Speaking before the show, Dion told CBS News, "For us to be all together tonight is hopefully going to help… But is it ever possible to get together and support and give good strength, positive energy to the family and the poor little child. It's so hard."
The event raised over $238,943 (£149,339) for the trust fund.
