Former model B. Smith has gone public with her fight against Alzheimer's disease.
The 64 year old has opened up about her health crisis in a new interview with U.S. Tv network CBS, revealing she was first diagnosed with the memory-stealing condition four years ago.
Tearing up as she failed to recall the date or year, she added: "Things like that make me very sad."
Smith, who also opened a string of restaurants and appeared on Tv, hopes talking about her illness will prompt others suffering similar symptoms to get checked.
She adds, "I think the future is going to be fine. I'm going to do my best to make it work out for me and for as many people as I can possibly help, too."
The full interview with Smith will air on Cbs show Sunday Morning in America on 15 June (14).
