For once the nation's leading critics and the public at large were seemingly in agreement. The CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, television's highest-rated comedy series, won the Critics Choice award for best comedy Monday night, while AMC's Breaking Bad, whose ratings rose 39 percent last year, and Game of Thrones, whose HBO ratings were second only to those garnered by The Sopranos in 2004, tied for the top drama award. HBO's Behind the Candelabra, starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, won the award for best mini-series or movie, and Douglas took the best actor award in that category for his performance as entertainer Liberace.
