British actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is still smarting over losing out on the lead role in Moulin Rouge! to OSCAR winner Nicole Kidman.

The Chicago beauty is reportedly intensely jealous of flame-haired Nicole and has recently changed management in a bid to replicate the DOGVILLE star's well-respected career.

And Hollywood insiders put Catherine's envy of the former MRS TOM CRUISE down to a rivalry stemming back to Baz Luhrmann's 2001 musical extravaganza.

One source tells PAGE SIX, "Baz Luhrmann tested Catherine, Nicole, and Renee Zellweger for the lead. Catherine really wanted it, but Nicole got it."

Kidman went on to win a Golden Globe for the role as SATINE and then continued her success by claiming an OSCAR for The Hours and working on acclaimed epic Cold Mountain.

Zeta-Jones also won an OSCAR for Best Supporting Actress in Chicago and has recently signed on for the sequel to 1998 swashbuckler The Mask of Zorro.
