Jailed rapper Cassidy is already planning his return to the charts, only a week after being sentenced to two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault charges.
The Hotel hitmaker was sentenced to a maximum of 23 months behind bars on 24 January (06) after he was found guilty of supplying the firearms which led to the murder of his friend Desmond Hawkins and the wounding of Bobby Hoyle and Daniel Irvin at the star's Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, home in April 2005.
Speaking from the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia, Cassidy - real name BARRY REESE - says, "While I am pleased that I was cleared of the murder charges, my satisfaction is not long lasting, because of the death of someone who I considered to be my friend, Des Hawkins.
"And while I am eager to resume my career as a recording artist, writer and performer, I am also eager to be reunited with my family, friends and fans.
"As the father of a young child myself, spending much time on the road and in the studio, away from home, I am relieved that I will soon be home."
His friend, producer Swizz Beatz, adds, "When Cassidy gets out, do not expect us to promote this situation as a cocky and violent situation, but as a blessed situation. Cass will continue to make great music, but in a positive way, educating the youth that violence is never the answer, (and) we'll do the rest of the talking with the music."
Cassidy's next single CASSIDY (The Anthem) is set for release later this month (28FEB06).
