Carrie Underwood, the country singer-songwriter and former American Idol winner, has chosen one of Lauren Alaina's songs for Tuesday's final (24th May 2011), reports Usa Today. Carrie Underwood has selected a track that she believes will suit the 16-year-old in her head-to-head battle with fellow country artist Scotty Mccreery.
The American Idol contestants will sing three songs during tonight's final, with one chosen for them by the contestants own personal 'musical idols'. Alaina selected Underwood as her biggest influence, but the 28-year-old's choice of song is yet to be revealed. Fellow finalist MCCreery requested that Country Music Hall of Famer GEORGE STRAIT select his track. In addition to the specially selected songs, both finalists will sing their 'favourite' songs from the season so far as well as their debut singles, chosen for them by the American Idol producers. It has been announced that Bono and The Edge will perform on Wednesday's show with cast-members of the 'Spider-Man' Broadway musical, for which they wrote the music and lyrics.
Carrie Underwood was named 'American Idol' winner in 2005, beating Bo Bice in the season finale. She recently became the show's top US earner after selling over 12 million albums.
